Ukraine
Exports, reconstruction, and whether an economy can win a war.
Ukraine’s wartime economy depends on exports it can no longer easily ship and reconstruction it cannot yet finance. This hub gathers work on export diversification away from Russia-exposed routes, agrifood market access to the EU, export promotion policy, and the broader research programme run through the Kyiv School of Economics Foreign Trade Research Center (Trade+).
Ukrainian exporters that diversified destination markets before 2022 were significantly more resilient through the first two years of the full-scale invasion — diversification acted as insurance the market priced too cheaply beforehand.
