US-China trade tensions have escalated sharply, with President Trump proposing 100% tariffs on Chinese imports worth roughly $438 billion a year and Beijing pledging to “fight to the end.” Existing retaliatory measures have already dented trade flows between the two economies significantly. Further escalation risks reshaping global commerce and consumer prices, and could accelerate the relocation of production toward alternative manufacturing hubs such as Vietnam and India.
